What is Four Thieves blend?

Four Thieves is traditionally a concoction of vinegar infused with various herbs that is believed to prevent and/or remedy illness. The name “Four Thieves” comes from the legend of its use during the medieval period, when grave-robbers would allegedly use these blends on themselves to prevent catching the plague from robbing the affected dead.

In the modern era, Four Thieves blends are consumed in small amounts as tinctures or diffused with an essential oil diffuser to help prevent the spread of disease, to help boost the immune system, and to help with speedy recovery from illness*. We have formulated a Four Thieves lip balm blend that can be conveniently carried and applied as needed throughout the day.

Four Thieves oil blends can vary by maker. Our blend consists of clove (Eugenia caryophyllus), Ceylon cinnamon bark (Cinnamomum zeylanicum), eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus), lemon (citrus limon), and rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) essential oils.

*The best way to prevent the spread of cold & flu viruses is to wash hands with antibacterial soap often and for at least 20 seconds per wash, to cough and sneeze into your elbow, and to stay home when you are feeling ill. Astra Terra Four Thieves Lip Balm has not been not been evaluated by the FDA and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition strength and should be treated as a curio item.
